My work is inspired by beautiful colors, textures, and nature. I enjoy bringing together various materials such as handmade paper, collected specimens from nature or bits of memories from an individual's life experiences. I work to create a piece that captures the essence of a past moment or subject, and display it in a way that evokes fond memories and brings joy to the observer.
Some of us hoard little reminders of special (and sometimes just ordinary) times to reflect on later. These items, including ticket stubs, coins, flyers, notes, snapshots, or even small gifts, ornaments, and toys usually end up in boxes or junk drawers, and are eventually forgotten or left to erode slowly over the years. By choosing some particularly beautiful or meaningful bits of past experiences and arranging them in a reflective manner, I create small environments where these random objects are synthesized into a piece that reflects a special time, person or feeling that can be re-experienced at will.
